Because I love BL. Update 14/03/2020

Hi, this is just another update for everyone out there.

So, many bad and scary things going around at the moment but I’m not here for that. I’m here to give some good news and make you smile.

I have made a few new friends who are also part of the BL world and they have given me even more information which I thought I share with you. There has been quite a few things going on in the last few weeks regarding BL.

First, we got the TharnType second season announcement! I mean, YES! We all hoped for it and we got it. Thank you so much to the whole production team ❤ Now let’s all just hope they won’t fall under the same curse every second installment did. Please make it amazing. Pretty please. I heard some of the plot lines for the new season and it sounds like something that could go very very wrong and turn out like Together With Me: The Next Chapter. I’m gonna trust everyone involved in the production though and just hope for the best.

Secondly, we got a few series starts with Why R U The Series and 2Gether The Series. As well as the show Because Of You. Because Of You is definitely lower in production quality but seriously that show has a way with its story and characters. I cannot stop watching even if next week is the finale 🙂 cannot wait to see all those sweet confession scenes!

Why R U is currently rocking the BL world. Saint Suppapong is back to win our hearts and I really don’t think he plans on letting go anytime soon. The series is getting better each week and the expectations are rising. We are already at episode 7 and I’m curious where the series goes and what we will get in the end. If they do well, people are gonna ask for a second season, I’m sure. You can find the links on the official LINE TV twitter Thailand.

And now, 2Gether. Isn’t it the first of GMMTV’s BL line-up? Or the first one of the 2020 line-up in general? Like the one they uploaded on YouTube? Well, doesn’t matter. Before I talk about the series itself: GMMTV actually uploaded the subs right when they uploaded the episodes and I really want to kiss them for it! I mean, finally and oh I love it so much 🙂 It was already a mess with DBK when we had to wait for subs even though we knew we could already watch it without. So, thank you, GMM, you are the best!

Moving on to 2Gether. It’s on episode 3 this week and I. am. absolutely. in love with it. Seriously, I love that the characters are so different from our usual leads. Tine is dumb but innocent and so pure and just a joyful person in general. And Sarawat is so charismatic but at the same time shy and cute and awkward about everything. The characters are so balanced and I cannot wait to see more. I already knew this could turn out to be a really good or really bad series. So far, they have shown only good things. I’m definitely watching more!

On the 14th (so today) we will also see the start of two new shows. Studio Wabisabi‘s highly anticipated En of Love. High pressure for that show but the studio has proven to be doing well, so I’m full of hope.

We will also get My Engineer. Finally. Some faces we know, some we don’t. I actually don’t know much about the series itself but I think this could also turn out to be either really good or really bad. My curiosity is picked and I can only hope we will be able to watch it on official links with subs next week. Let’s hope!

Also there seems to be another ReminderS 2 in production. Since Love Sick 3 turned out to be nothing, I don’t want to guarantee anything but if a ReminderS 2 is happening, I’m going to freak out. I hope I’m not at work when that happens. I do hope we see a return of Phun and Noh though.

So here you just had a few good news! I hope you liked them, even if they are quite short. Maybe check out the new shows and let’s all hope for second ReminderS!

Stay healthy and continue supporting our BL shows by watching the official links! Byeee, cya!

BL Thailand – Who To Know?

Some time ago I released a series of BL introductions and BL 101 if you’re new to the genre. I also included a Who To Know? then but I decided to make a new one, just because so many things have changed. 2019 was a great year for BL shows even if we had to wait a lot and there were some down phases. Overall it was a good year with many new shows, many surprises and one or the other gem down the line.

In this post I want to give you an updated version of who to know in the BL acting world, specifically Thailand because that is the one country where you see some actors return either for main roles or at least for supporting roles in other shows. Also because it is the one country with the most BL shows I know, so I decided to go with what I do know.

So here are some of the actors you should know and recognize when delving into the world of BL…enjoy…

Singto Prachaya Ruangroj (He’s Coming To Me)

Born: 1994
Let’s start off with a name you should really know. He has been on the acting radar ever since he acted in the highly popular SOTUS series alongside co-star and friend Krist Sangpotirat Perawat and has been on the up-and-coming ever since. He has acted in multiple other shows including the U-Prince Series, Friend Zone and the touching series He’s Coming To Me alongside Ohm Pawat. In 2020 he will return with the non-BL show Turn Left Turn Right as well as in the second installment of Friend Zone, Friend Zone 2: Dangerous Area, both GMM shows. He has proven multiple times he can act well and can play different characters, especially with his character in He’s Coming To Me, he showed he can play the shy but playful character too and can adapt to his surroundings and co-stars. Definitely a name to be curious about in the future, especially because he didn’t seem to be against playing a BL character after SOTUS and is one of the few actors who played LGBT+ characters in more than one series. We fans definitely thank him for it because he really is one talented actor.

Mild Suttinut Uengtrakul (Love’s Coming)

Born: 1993
You may not have known his name but you might have seen his face multiple times. He has appeared in some shows either as a main character or a supporting role. He has been part of the main couple in the charming Love’s Coming, as well as the kinda confusing The Best Twins. You may have also seen him in the movie Red Wine in the Dark Night, the messy series What the Duck and at the moment he is starring as Techno in TharnType The Series. He is one of the examples of seeing an actor develop. While in the beginning his acting seemed awkward and strange, he has really changed and learned over time and shows some good acting scenes in TT. I am very curious where his journey takes him in the future.

Mew Suppasit Jongcheveevat (What the Duck)

Born: 1991
This actor has some scandals, issues and whatever behind him but I still want to mention him here. First because he seems to be really good at adapting to different characters and also because he was connected to the messy and confusing What The Duck. Seriously, even until now, I don’t get the series. But since he acted in that show, I decided to give him another chance with the new TharnType The Series. And while the show is quite on the edge regarding some of their content, this actor definitely delivers a steady and balanced acting job. Before it was hard to judge whether his acting made Pree in WTD awkward or whether it was the character itself. Well, TT proves it was the character itself (actually no real surprise there, the show is a full on crash against the wall) and I definitely hope Mew will continue delighting us with shows.

New Thitipoom Techaapaikhun (Kiss Series)

Born: 1993
If you don’t know New, you are either totally new to the BL genre or you are just clueless, like totally. I count New Thitipoom as one of the three actors with the most BL shows on his record. The other two being Singto Prachaya (SOTUS, Friend Zone, He’s Coming To Me) and Gun Atthaphan (Puppy Honey, Theory of Love, The Blue Hour, and so on…). New has acted as Apo in Water Boyy The Series as well as Kao in the long running series Kiss, a series that is currently airing its third and highly anticipated installment, Dark Blue Kiss. But his roles also include a lot of non-BL roles, like as Singto Prachaya’s best friend in SOTUS, M. He was also part of multiple installments of the U-Prince series and had a main role in the 2019 shows Wolf and Love Beyond Frontier. Seriously, his acting record is quite long and it seems we will get to see more of him in the future. He has developed his acting and proven time and time again he knows how to do a scene well. I cannot wait to see more of this cutie and see where his future is leading him 🙂

Tay Tawan Vihokratana (Kiss Series)

Born: 1991
New’s longtime co-actor and another GMM TV boy. Tay Tawan is another name you should definitely know. His acting record is pretty long too. He has acted as Pete in the long running series Kiss, a series that – as I mentioned above – is currently airing its third and highly anticipated installment, Dark Blue Kiss. He has also appeared as a supporting role in more shows I can count, and had a main role in Secret Seven and the 2019 drama series 3 Will Be Free. In 2020 he will have a supporting role in the GMM TV series Military of Love. Tay Tawan is steadily building his acting record with the one or the other BL show or character and I appreciate that he seems to be open to play more complex and complicated characters. I’m looking forward to seeing more of this great and charming guy in the future!

Saint Suppapong Udomkaewkanjana (Love By Chance)

Born: 1998
Saint first came onto everyone’s radar with the highly popular and fanatically loved BL series Love By Chance. Even I have re-watched the series more times than I can count. In his more recent acting projects he has taken on roles different from the shy and quiet character Pete from LBC. Currently he set to act as Tutor in the 2020 BL series Why R U?, a series I’m looking forward to dearly. Different from a lot of actors on this list, he has almost only been acting in shows and no big movie projects. He did do some short movies/music videos that can be found on Youtube but otherwise he has taken to shows on television. I’m really curious what is coming for this young boy in the future, especially since he is only 21 this year, so we will see how he builds up his acting record and repertoire. He has already proven he can play tougher characters too. I hope after 2020 he will appear in more BL shows too and not leave the BL world behind him like some others did after some time.

Earth Pirapat Watthanasetsiri (Water Boyy The Series)

Born: 1994
Funny enough, Earth is one of the actors most BL fans know the name and the face of. Mainly because he seems to appear everywhere. He had a main role in Water Boyy The Series and the second installment of the Kiss series – Kiss Me Again, as well as a supporting role in the popular shows Love By Chance and Theory of Love. Let me translate – he acted with New and Tay from the Kiss series, also with New in Water Boyy, he appeared with Saint, Perth, Mean and Plan in Love By Chance and also Off and Gun in Theory of Love. Whoever you are a fan of, at least one of their shows had Earth in them. No wonder why most fans know his face and name. 2019 and 2020 also showed he seemed to be open to playing LGBT+ characters, something I highly praise him for. He appeared as part of the surprise fan-favorite couple TwoUn in Theory of Love, with his co-star White Nawat Phumphothingam (Love Sick) and is set to appear in the BL series A Tale Of Thousand Stars in 2020. It seems like a dramatic but wonderful love story, so I am excited for it. I’m excitedly asking myself where he will pop up in the future.

Off Jumpol Adulkittiporn (Theory Of Love)

Born: 1991
Another 91-liner, the oldest age group on this list. Off has been on the radar of BL fans ever since his role in Senior Secret Love: Puppy Honey. He played the cold but caring Pick and was first paired with his now long-time co-star and friend Gun Atthaphan. They have shown multiple times they have perfect chemistry and GMMTV has given them even their own shows like the talk show OffGun Fun Night (which is currently airing season 2) and the BL series Theory Of Love, where we could finally see Off and Gun as a drama couple again. In Theory Of Love, Off could finally show his matured and complex acting which didn’t really show in Puppy Honey. Even if TOL is a story full of bad timing and even worse decisions, the series is definitely one of the BL shows with the best acting. I really hope Off takes on more complex characters in the future, he has already appeared in a lot of non-BL shows too, and I’m excited to see how his acting develops to even better levels.

Gun Atthaphan Phunsawat (Theory Of Love)

Born: 1993
There is a reason why people call Gun Atthaphan the king – or sometimes queen – of BL. First, he is 26 years old in 2019 and still has a baby face. Second, I don’t think anyone has acted as a LGBT+ character as many times as him: Senior Secret Love: Puppy Honey, Bittersweet Chocolate (and it’s second installment), Love Love You, The Blue Hour and Theory Of Love. And he pulls all of the roles off perfectly. Gun has shown steady and good acting from the beginning and has been known for taking on more complex roles and characters. He played tough bad asses, as well as cute and shy guys. He also appeared in non-BL roles, most known, he appeared as the straight A’s student Punn in the drama heavy and fan-favorite series The Gifted. In 2020 he is returning as Punn for the second installment The Gifted Graduation. I’m curious what projects he is going to do in the future but judging from his current acting I’m quite sure, he is the one actor I trust to pull of any role given to him.

Earth Katsamonnat Namwirote (Love By Chance)

Born: 1996
This is quite a new name on this list. His acting record isn’t that long right now but I expect more in the future. He had a main role in the popular series Love By Chance and is set to appear in the dramatic BL series Until We Meet Again in 2019. He is definitely part of the cutie line on this list and seems to be really good at adapting to his co-stars and giving good chemistry. I’m excited to see him in UWMA and curious how his acting developed since his last project. I think we can expect more from him in the future, especially since he doesn’t seem to shy away from playing LGBT+ characters.

Fluke Natouch Siripongthon (Red Wine In The Dark Night)

Born: 1996
Fluke Natouch is one of the few actors who has acted in as many movies as TV shows, although it seems his movie roles have been bigger than the TV roles he got. He appeared in the widely known movie My Bromance, where we still don’t know when the second installment is going to come out, also in the dark and moody movie Red Wine In The Dark Night and in the movie Ghost Ship. I still have no idea whether that movie is a comedy or a scary movie…it is a change from what I’ve been watching til now and Fluke definitely pulled of the role of Yorla in the movie. I really like him in the movie especially because the role was so different than what you might know from him usually. As for shows, he appeared as a main role in Part Of Love, had a few supporting roles and is set to appear as a supporting role in the 2019 non-BL show Blacklist, as well as the main character in the 2019 BL series Until We Meet Again. He has yet to appear in a highly popular BL series but I think UWMA has good chances and he is also one of the few actors where I don’t worry about his acting skills at all. He has proven himself multiple times and he can definitely pull of fun but also serious characters.

Ohm Pawat Chittsawangdee (He’s Coming To Me)

Born: 2000
Say hello to the youngest actor on this list. He may be the youngest but his acting record is…well, long, especially considering he is only 19! He made his debut into the BL world with Make It Right and as part of the fan-favorite couple FrameBook. Ever since then he has a appeared in non-BL shows like War of High School but also reprised his role as Frame in Make It Right 2. In 2019 he also surprised everyone with the BL tearjerker He’s Coming To Me alongside Singto Prachaya and giving us a couple we didn’t know we wanted but we loved them nonetheless – seriously their chemistry was awesome. Currently he is starring in the series Blacklist and set to appear as a main role in the 2020 shows The Shipper and Military Of Love. He is definitely on the up-and-coming and considering he is so young, I think we can expect to see even more and even better projects in the future.

Special Mention:

Yacht Surat Permpoonsavat

Born: 1997
He is the only one on this list, I think, who has not been a main character in a BL series. He has mostly been set as supporting and guest character but he has appeared in the widely known Love By Chance. Also pretty recently he acted in The Effect. And after watching I have to say, both times he has acted as the best friend you could ever wish for in life. I mean seriously, you just have to love him. He has not appeared in many shows and has not been a main character that is why I’ve only mentioned him on the side but I just wanted to get it out there, that his characters are really the best friends you could ever ask for. And his acting is also really natural, maybe because it’s similar to himself or because he is an amazing actor. Whether it is one or the other, I wholeheartedly compliment him and hope we see more of him in the future.

So this is my list of Who To Know and who to look out for. I hope you liked it. I tried to add actors who appeared in multiple shows whether as a main or as a supporting character. Let’s see how they will surprise us in the future, I hope we see more of them whether it’s BL shows or not! (although I’d appreciate the one or the other BL show 🙂 )

My favourite music videos

So recently I rewatched a lot of music videos and discovered a lot of new ones…mainly because I discovered the advantages of Spotify and discovered quite a lot of new music 🙂

Well, after rewatching some music videos I had this idea I could share some of my favourite music videos. The selection was not easy AT ALL but I tried my best to stick with some general criteria:

  • quality that fits the concept
  • concept
  • of course, the music 😉

I did not put things like choreo in, since there are a few cool music videos where there is no dancing and they are still cool. Some of the music videos have a better quality than others, but they are also from different years, so of course. Oh and it’s NOT just K-Pop!

Nico Santos – Rooftop / Oh Hello

I didn’t know the music videos to these song for a long time and only discovered them recently. Sure, they may not be as “special” as others on this list, but I still think the videos for Rooftop and Oh Hello fit the songs quite well and stay true to the concept it’s showing throughout the video. The quality of the music is also amazing and changes between showing a story and the singer himself. The videos are quite dark, but I think that’s another reason why they fit so well.

Find Oh Hello HERE

BTS – Not Today

Not Today is one of the music videos that are just really visually stunning. BTS in general produces a lot of good music videos but Not Today really plays with your eyes and not just your ears. The surroundings in the music videos and the colors are just wow. The camera work also supports the whole choreography and music and gives it the special look that makes this music video so addicting.

Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass

This music video may not be that special either, but I just love it because it is fun, without being funny, it fits the music well and I love the colors. I’m not really a pink fan but it fits so well together in this video I just cannot stop falling in love with All About That Bass all over again.

VIXX – Voodoo Doll

Voodoo Doll is and will always be one of my favourite music videos. It may be quite strong, considering there is the normal version and a clean (choreography) version without all the blood. The camera work, the choreo etc. all support the music video and the song. It’s a all round perfect combination and everything fits so well together. It may be quite strong with some of its images but still, I love it.

Note: please only watch if you can handle blood etc. If not here is the clean performance version: HERE

Britney Spears – Oops I Did It Again

A classic for once. Oops I Did It Again is mainly here, not because it is perfect but because I think it’s just iconic. While the video is mainly dancing it still fits the song so well and I think it also shows one of the best pop songs out there, even if it is already an older one 🙂

VAV – Senorita

Senorita is actually a cover from a German song, but that doesn’t matter here, since I’m gonna talk about the music video. I think the music video fits the song awesomely well and everything compliments each other in this video. Also the color scheme of the music video is just beautiful and I think I watched it around a 100 times already.

Enrique Iglesias ft. Descember Bueno, Zion & Lennox – Subeme La Radio

Subeme La Radio is a catchy song to begin with but I also love the music video behind it. The quality is really good and it’s a good mix of showing you the singers as well as a few amazing images of the city they’re shooting in. The color scheme is slightly (!) similar to Senorita above, but the similarity is only light. The song is very upbeat and the camera work goes well with that too.

Block B – Nillili Mambo

Nillili Mambo made me fall in love with Block B. They had interesting songs before and after but this music video just topped everything. They tell a story but at the same time show the singers and it’s a good balance between both. You can just enjoy watching the music video which seems like a short film with a little bit of singing and a lot of (pirate) swag. This one I really enjoyed watching and still do.

Vanessa Mai ft. Olexesh – Wir 2 Immer 1

I’m not used to liking German songs…no, not at all. Normally I watch it for like 3 seconds and then switch to any other language and try that one, but Wir 2 Immer 1 (translates to: We 2 forever 1) really kept popping up and got stuck in my head. So one day I looked up the music video and I kinda really like it. It’s a little bit on the darker side but also features a hopeful light shimmer and some good images and quality, so I definitely like that.

Astro – Breathless

Breathless tells quite a funny and interesting story that fits the funky and upbeat song oh so well. It tells you the story of…bottles 😀 Yes, the boys in the music video resemble juice bottles being carried around by a girl at the beach. You’re curious now aren’t you? Well, I watched it and was like “wait, did I understand that correctly right now?” I did and I think the song and music video are perfect for summer.

Bruno Mars – Grenade

Grenade has a similar feeling as Nico Santos’ songs above. It’s quite dark but the darkness fits the song really well and it stays true to its concept from beginning to end. The music video supports the song really well and makes it even catchier and more intriguing. Even if it’s older it’s still one of my favourite Bruno Mars music videos.

Infinite – Destiny

The group Infinite actually had two video versions for Destiny, but one of them featured images of plane parts, seemingly from a plane crash and it got cut down. Still I think the second version is awesome nonetheless. Seriously, it fits the song really really well. It features a similar color scheme as Senorita and Subeme La Radio while at the same time being quite different. Senorita went more into the red colors and Destiny uses its colors in a smoother way than Subeme La Radio. I just like watching this really well executed music video!

VIXX – Dynamite / Fantasy / The Closer

Originally, I did not want to feature more than one music video per artists but I just couldn’t stop myself. Mainly though I’m mentioning these three because they belong together while at the same time seeming like totally different songs and videos. Actually it tells a story related to gods and humans and they did really well telling a complicated story while also sticking to each song’s individual charm. If you want to know more about the story: HERE.

Find Fantasy HERE and The Closer HERE.

So these are my favourite music videos. What are yours? Did you discover some new songs through this post or do you want me to check out some of your favourites?

Comment down below and I’ll check it out 🙂

Introduction to BL 101 – General

Welcome to the world of BL. You only heard some general stuff about it but don’t really know where to begin? Don’t worry, that’s what this post is about. Here you’ll get a little introduction to the whole scene as well as some definitions you may not know yet.

If you don’t like BL (=boys love) please leave this post. Thanks.

Ok first some DEFINITIONS:

BL – Boys Love: meaning love between two boys or two men

Seme: the top partner of the relationship, mostly in regards to the sexual aspects of their relationship. Who tops the other? Originally comes from Mangas.

Uke: the bottom partner of the relationship, also mostly in regards to the sexual aspects of their relationship. Who gets it from the other? Also originally comes from Mangas.

Mangas: Japanese comics generally but really different from the American superhero etc comics.

Bias: Favorite cast member of something

Shonen-Ai: essentially BL, just in regards to mangas. More in regards to feelings and less sexual than Yaoi.

Yaoi: essentially BL, just in regards to mangas. More erotic and sexual scenes than Shonen-Ai.

Fujoshi: Women who like Yaoi.

Tease: A movie or series that is not BL but more like bromance but really teases the BL without giving the fans anything.

What to know about BL?

BL fans exist all around the world, of course. In some cultures such things are more accepted compared to others. The BL shows I’m talking about are mostly Asian BL shows. Of course the US and others have a lot of shows too but Asia takes it to a different level. Here’s a few facts about the country variety of BL:

  • USA: more open to BL characters but usually just featured as side or supporting characters. Also appear in shows where there are a lot of main characters (ex. Glee, Shadowhunters). Usually produced with quality pictures and a more developed show production
  • South Korea: not as open about BL as other countries. Therefore not that many big BL shows or movies and mostly just indie productions. Seldomly some BL in mainstream but mostly teasing the fans with bromance.
  • China: put out a ban where every homosexual content was prohibited from airing. One of the reasons why when watching Chinese BL do not expect too many touchy scenes. They do have good “couple” chemistry though.
  • Japan: BL got more popular in Mangas and Anime and went on to live-action movies. Normally kinda cheesy and not really high production quality but the stories can be amazingly touching.
  • Thailand: the one country that produces a lot of BL shows with good quality of pictures and story. Sometimes with total newbie actors but they have a lot of fans and don’t just tease fans.

So this was some info about general stuff to know what I’m talking about.

Where can you get more information about shows, also like reviews and stuff?
Well, I do have recommendation posts, but if you want a general “wikipedia” for BL, then I recommend
It offers everything you want regarding Asian movies, series, shows, actors and actresses.

Okay, I admit that’s it for part one of the BL Introduction 101. I think I’m gonna cut it into multiple parts:

  1. General
  2. History
  3. Actors
  4. Couples
  5. Series
  6. Movies

Or something like that 😀
I know this was like veeeery general but cut me some slack, I’m only starting out with this post series 😉 Next part comes on the 28th of January.

Cinema 2019: What’s on, what’s gone, what’s coming?

Check out the previous installments:
Year 2017
Year 2018

Here’s your update to what is coming to your cinema in the new year 2019. I give no guarantees to the monthly schedule since things can differ from country to country and everything can happen, but here you have an overall schedule 😀 I hope everyone finds something for them:

January. The month of snow and Christmas afterglow. The month where everyone is still hopeful about their new year’s resolutions and hopes for the new year. Well let’s see what this hopeful month brings this year.

First up this month offers The Favourite. A movie I heard a lot about and with Emma Stone in quite a new character compared to her previous roles. It’s a historical movie and I’m not good with those so I’m gonna skip it if it’s not overly praised by critics.

Another one this month is Mary Queen of Scots. Another movie I heard a lot about and also historical. It seems we are returning to the historical genre of films this month. It seems like a very dramatic movie so maybe I’m gonna watch it. Maybe because I have someone who might like going with me but I’m not overly excited for it.

There’s also gonna be a LEGO movie 2 after the first one got better reviews than anyone expected. Glass is also coming out this month. Didn’t watch the previous installments so no idea if it will be any good but maybe I’m gonna check those out first and then decide later whether to watch it in cinema or not. Escape Room is also coming out but I’m gonna wait for the first reviews on that one. I’m not a big Saw fan and I’m very very afraid it’s similar to those.

  • Others: Norm of the North Keys to the Kingdom / The Kid who would be King / A Dog’s Way Home / The Upside

February or the month where everyone throws away their new year’s resolutions and starts wishing for spring just to spend Valentine’s alone and nag everyone about the snow and it not having 30 °C out. Well it’s February. It’s still supposed to snow.

February gifts us with a lot of installments. First off the long awaited (at least by me) third installment of How to train your dragon. I am sad. It’s probably gonna be the last one but I’m still happy I get to see them again. I just hope it has a nice ending.

And the hit of this February, or for some locations in January: Instant Family. Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne in their best form and together they are a really funny combination. The trailers seem awesome and funny with just enough drama and a little bit of sassiness. It’s not the most original story but I love the actors and I believe they might have managed to achieve an awesome movie start into the year.

We also get Alita: Battle Angel, a movie that has been promoted for over a year. At least that’s what it feels like. I’m waiting on the reviews about this one though before I go and watch it in the cinema.

  • Others: Cold Pursuit / The Rhythm Section / What Men Want / The Prodigy / Happy Death Day

March brings the long awaited Captain Marvel movie. The trailer’s been out some time and everyone is excited, also because it finally means Avengers 4 is coming soon. So Captain Marvel has quite the interesting cast especially because I did not think Brie Larsson would ever play a super hero but I think she can give this whole super hero world a new charm. I’m intrigued.

And March also shows another long awaited favorite of mine: Dumbo. Disney is really stepping up its game this year. So many movies coming from them. Quite a line-up of live-action movies. Well the trailer seems really cool and I can’t wait to see Colin Farrell in a good character role again after playing the bad guy so well in Fantastic Beasts.

Another movie I am excited about is Five Feet Apart. Not actually because it may be awesome but because I wanna see what the young actors can show us and how they handle the seriousness behind the story. Whether this will be a simple no one noticed it movie or a serious and touching movie, let’s wait and see.

  • Others: Chaos Walking / The Force / Wonder Park / Us / Hotel Mumbai

Okay let’s start at the beginning. May brings us (finally) Avengers 4 or Avengers: Endgame. I think I will never understand why there was such a big drama about the name. Endgame tells me absolutely nothing. Zilch. So yeah that one is coming. Trailer seems interesting but tells us pretty much nothing. And don’t tell me otherwise. We are all just picking at little stuff so we can overcome the time to the movie release.

Note here: this one was originally scheduled for May and only starts at the end of April so I put it here but it will probably last through May. Definitely, I’m sure.

We also get Shazam!, a movie where I cannot decide whether it is a comedy or a super hero movie. The trailer seems fun though, so maybe I’m gonna check it out.

We get a few horror movies this month too, but since I’m not much of a horror movie viewer I’m the wrong person to ask here.

Hellboy is another movie coming out this month. I think it’s a reboot but I’m not a hundred percent sure, maybe another installment? Ah, I just looked it up – it’s a reboot. Well, the last one was praised a lot so it has some fandom to live up to but whether I’ll watch it, probably not, unless the effects have gotten better.

  • Breakthrough / Pet Sematary / Little / Curse of La Llorona / Missing Link

May. The one month each year everyone goes to the cinema at least once and discovers what has changed since they have gone – either because of a Marvel movie or because they are the unlucky person to know someone who wants to go watch the new Marvel movie. The one month where DC will probably never release a movie in. But well, Disney is.

This time Marvel is releasing its biggest blockbuster 2019 end of April so everyone releasing a movie in May has to be very sure of themselves.

Rivaling Marvel this May is Aladdin by Disney. One of the really high pressured live-action adaptations of Disney. This could be either a total success or a total flop. I’m definitely watching this. I think it’s not a bad idea by Disney to release it in May, since it is totally different from Avengers.

Also a movie I made fun of before watching the trailer and actually laughing my ass off when I watched the trailer: Detective Pikachu. The trailer is hilarious and I’m definitely gonna check it out. Even if it is horrible I would not like missing it if it is as funny as it seems.

Also we will get to see Godzilla 2 or Godzilla King of Monsters. Whatever you want to call it. The trailer does not tell much expect for its gonna be an action packed movie and there’s gonna be a multi-headed dragon (so cool). I’m not sure whether to watch it but if someone says they want to go I’m definitely not going to say no.

  • Others: John Wick: Chapter 3 / Brightburn / Ugly Dolls / The Intruder

June brings us the long awaited return of the X-men main characters with X-Men: Dark Phoenix. I’m curious how Sophie Turner is gonna play her role especially because I don’t think it’s gonna be that good but I’m always happy when I get positively surprised.

Top Gun: Maverick, second installment for Top Gun, the hit from I-don’t-know when is also getting another chance and coming back with a second installment. Haven’t watched the first one, don’t know whether to watch the second one but considering how much time has passed I’m kind of curious how they incorporate modern things into it.

We also get a lot of installments in June: Toy Story 4 which I no nothing about and I’ve kind of grown out of the Toy Story franchise I admit.

There’s The Secret Life of Pets 2. The first one was funny but not so funny to make me wanna go to the cinema and watch it I have to say. I’m also gonna wait on the reviews on that one.

The one movie a lot of people are looking forward to this June is probably Men In Black: International. A new installment of MIB and yes, Will Smith will reappear in it, so I’m excited and all for it, especially because I liked the humor in the previous installments and I like Chris Hemsworth, who is also starring in the movie.

  • Others: 47 Meters Down / Child’s Play

Whether two months is enough time between the release of two live-action Disney movies, I don’t know but it’s happening. July gives us the already teased The Lion King live-action adaption. If Aladdin is already a risk, The Lion King adaptation is a jump off the cliff and hoping for the best. Let’s see if Disney lands in a nice lake or is crushed against the hard rocks.

We also get Spiderman: Far From Home, the second installment with Tom Holland as Spiderman. The one movie that already told us Peter Parker is not really dead. I’m excited especially after finding out who MJ is and I’m curious who the new villain will be.

There’s also supposed to be a new installment or spin-off of Fast & Furious but even I think they’ve had A LOT already so I might just let that pass me by.

An another movie where I don’t know whether to be kind of excited or hide under my sheets immediately is Annabelle 3. This is getting another installment…oh man and I’m still trying to work through my nightmares from The Nun and Annabelle 2. I’m not gonna say I’m not watching it because I said the same thing about The Nun but I’m not too happy about it either.

  • Others: Once Upon A Time in Hollywood

In August, we are supposed to get X-Men The New Mutants. I don’t really know what it is about but a colleague of mine who works at the cinema told me they got the posters for it months ago so I guess it’s been long coming. Normally I like X-men movies so I’m gonna check it out.

Also there’ll  be a movie called Artemis Fowl this August. It has a cool poster but I don’t think there’s much news about it yet.

This August is also supposed to give us PLAYMOBIL: The movie. I wasn’t really into the LEGO movie announcement so I’m also not into this one.

Also set for August is another long-awaited return of the Has Fallen franchise with Gerard Butler: Angel Has Fallen. I’m quite sure I’m not gonna watch it though, except when I really have too much time on my hands, since they did announce some of the storyline and I hate it when someone gets used as the scapegoat and has to prove their innocence after the previous action packed installments nonetheless.

And last but not least we will get Angry Birds Movie 2. A lot of people have told me the first one was funny but nothing special so I’m probably gonna watch the first installment until August and then decide the rest.

  • Others: Dora The Explorer / Boss Level / Good Boys

For horror fans we have IT: Chapter Two. The adaptation of a book that not only is deeply disturbing but could also be used as a murder weapon with its 1500 pages.

September also brings us a Downtown Abbey movie but since I have not watched the series and I haven’t really done any research on that I cannot tell you what it will be about. If you are a fan of the TV show, maybe it will be interesting for you.

Also we will get Spies in Disguise. An animated movie. I don’t know more.

But be aware that August, September and so on are normally the months where things are promoted like 2 months prior and they may become summer hits. So maybe we will get some surprises this time too.

  • Others: Abominable / The Kitchen / The Hunt / The Art of Racing in the Rain

October is gonna bring a lot of horror movies I’m sure but since not that many things have been announced yet we’re gonna have to stick with what all the movies we do know. Which is: there’s gonna be a The Addams Family movie. I loved the TV show and it was really enjoyable so I’m excited for the movie. Although I don’t know what it’s gonna be like since it’s an animated movie.

There’s gonna be a movie called Gemini Man that stars Will Smith and is kind of sci-fi but I don’t know what to think about it.

October also sees another second installment: Zombieland Too. I absolutely loved the first one. It’s not really confirmed if and in what capacity the original actors would return but I’m hopeful. Let’s see what the first trailer looks like.

  • Others: The Crow Reborn / Joker / Are You Afraid Of the Dark?

November. Winter is starting. Kind of. November brings us the return of the one and only movie where no one can hear the title song again. Frozen 2 is coming out and I’m on edge with this one. I don’t know what it’s gonna be like so maybe I’ll check it out, maybe not.

There’s also gonna be Charlie’s Angels, a reboot of the original series and I’ve heard there’s gonna be a lot of changes to the original storyline and surroundings in the story, so I’m interested, not hooked, but interested.

We are also supposed to get another Kingsman movie, a franchise that was kind of nice in the last few years so I’m keeping an eye out for that one.

  • Others: Death on the Nile / Margie Claus / Terminator 6 / Sonic The Hedgehog / Arctic Justice Thunder Squad

December 2019 is supposed to bring us Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle 2. I’m very curious about how they worked the Comedy plot line into a second installment. Could be interesting or a total fail. Let’s see.

Also we are supposed to get Wicked. Don’t know whether this is supposed to be like Wicked the musical or a horror movie. Could both be true.

We also get another Star Wars installment: Star Wars Episode IX. I admit I’m a total star wars newbie and have yet to watch one of the movies (yeah yeah I know. How can I not have watched at least one? Well easy. I wasn’t interested in action movies in the galaxy. Before Guardians of the Galaxy I’ve not seen myself as much of a galaxy movie or series fan so yeah…).

  • Others: Masters of the Universe / The Call of The Wild

So that was it. I hope I could give you some kind of overview of what movies are coming in 2019 and when to save some money for a cinema trip. I’m keeping my mind open especially because I watched a lot of stuff I did not recommend or skipped last year so let’s see how on the spot I am this year about my movie trips 🙂
